I recently purchased a used 2008 Nissan Frontier Nismo 4x2 Crew Cab in great condition/shape BUT it has these HUGE 24 inch HELO clown rims with Carbon Series 215/30ZR24 CS86 tires on it right now, don't get me wrong I love the look of the tread pattern and if the rims were not so huge they would look awesome as they are the polished with black inserts on a black truck and I am not a spoke rim guy usually. Anyway I am interested in possibly gong back to the stock diameter of 16" but I am not opposed to POSSIBLY looking at going up to an 18", I just don't see going any bigger as that is just not my style (yes I am old school laugh all you want).
AnyWHO, I have found the closest thing to what/would like to put on it is a set of the Mickey Thompson Classic III Wheels with Polished Finish (16x10"/6x5.5"). I believe my my oem bolt pattern is 4.5 though, and I understand I will need an adapter kit to go to the 5.5 bolt pattern. I have a few questions if someone can help me please I have never used any type of adapters myself and years ago was warned against it but as I cannot find a similar rim or one the is polished and looks like the old school 5 hole bullet hole rims that I want. If anyone knows of any (good rims please not any that will rust or tarnish if taken care of correctly), polished rims that will fit safely and are similar (especially that are along the same lines of the classic 5 hole bullets and definitely are NOT the small punch hole style) or if anyone has any negative experiences with a 16x10 on this truck please let me know.
1st, Is it safe to use an adapter on this/any vehicle?
2nd, If so, I wish to put these rims on with as little an added thickness as possible so any ideas on where to get a reasonably priced safe/good set from?
3rd, Tires I want a wide performance style tire like the 24's are now and to stay in a lower profile but I want more rubber than 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch that the 24's have I would consider possibly a RWL as long as it is in the performance style I just don't want the truck tire look.
4th, this vehicle has the tmps sensors on it I want to find sensors that would work with these or what ever rims I replace them with but have read terrible reviews on the aftermarket ones I find online any suggestions? The last owner just chose not to put any sensors on it and the light is staying on now and just bothers me.
Can anyone help or offer suggestions thanks, Joe
