Wow, I would love to see that up close and personal. Thank you for sharing. What is the small yellow twin pusher plane in the shot with the B-25? It was about 24th or 25th from the bottom.

Carlos, thanks for those pics. I love airplanes, especially the old WWII planes. The F4U Corsair is my favorite. I like the old DC-3s as well. Interesting seeing the Enola Gay. I will be in Hiroshima in 3 weeks. I plan to visit Peace Memorial Park while there.

Thanks! There is one of those prototype flying wings flying that I know of. It was restored here in Corona, CA. I saw it fly a few years ago. The pilot lies on his belly in the cockpit. Oh, the Howard Hughes plane "Spruce Goose" was in Long Beach until the early 90's... I got to go in it. You would not beleive how big it is. They had one of the huge radial engines with 1/4 of it cut away and had it rotating as if it where running. Amaizing watching all the cams, valves, etc working. The plane is now on display in Oregon. The dismatled it and barged it up there.

Why the move to Oregon? I thought CA was a permanent location, just because of climate?

This is one of my favorite pics from the Aerospace Museum:

Carlos, you are like me! You have to take the opportunity to get pics of your truck at all the places you visit! You and your truck can get together some day and reflect on all the places you have been together.

Love those wheels, by the way!!!

I cant remember why. It was housed in a dome next to the Queen Mary. I spent the night on the ship then visited the goose the next day. That ship/hotel is something else. Art Deco like no other. Fantastic....

So I found that it is the Northrop flying wing. Here is a video of a RC model of it

An the real one

This is the experimental aircraft that preceded the jet age noncommercial flying wings you typically see today. The program was contracted through Northrop by the US Airforce at the time and while in progress this aircraft was mistaken for numerous UFO sightings. This was the prototype that survived the dismantling process of the program after the program was halted around 1950 by the US Airforce. Unfortunately new flying wings would not be made for another 35 years. The shutdown of the project led to slowdown in aviation technology especially for passenger travel. Had Northrop pursued the flying wing further airline travel would have already long ago been flying wing instead of conventional carrying up to 800-1000 passengers at a time with further mileage and capable of super sonic speeds. As it stands now passenger based flying wings have now been in development for apx 5 years. I was one of the few lucky ones today to see this historic flight of the only existing 1940s flying wing as shown in this video taken with a Sony Cybershot. All rights reserved Kenny Irwin 2006©.
